Faysal Quraishi condemns ‘cruel assassination attempt’ on Imran Khan, demands complete investigation
Faysal Quraishi condemned the assassination attempt on PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday and pledged his support to the PTI leader. Demanding for the truth to come out through a thorough investigation, the actor noted that the protesters are being treated far more harshly than they were in the aftermath of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
On Friday, he took to Instagram and shared a joint post with his wife Sana Faysal, expressing their allegiance with Imran. “We are always with you Khan Sahab,” they captioned the video. In it, Quraishi said he was on a small charity tour abroad when he got to hear about the news of the assassination attempt. “We condemn this cruel assassination attempt and request for a complete investigation because the story behind it is something else and the people deserve to know the truth,” said Sana. “Whatever the story is, we deserve to know the truth and lies will not be further tolerated.”
Quraishi said he met a lot of Pakistanis on his tour and saw a lot of love in those people for Pakistan and Imran. He noted the difference in how protesters are being treated now versus 15 years ago. “When people are taking to the streets in the pursuit of truth, they are being tortured and hit — they face shelling and the rod, which is very painful. I remember what happened when shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was assassinated, five days after that in Karachi, it was Musharraf’s time and people were not stopped then the way they are being stopped now. We just want to know the truth and the sooner it’s out, the better.”
He made a prayer for Imran and all those who were harmed by the attack. “Another thing, Imran sahab is out of danger, may Allah give him good health and keep him in His safety, keep everyone in His safety. And may He raise the ranks of those who are martyred.”
He concluded with a couplet discussing the nobility of fighting and falling. “Lastly, I’d like to say a small thing which is the reality, it’s gallant knights riding in battles that fall, not feeble babes, who can do naught but crawl. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?”
The PTI chairman, along with Faisal Javed and Ahmed Chattha were injured in the assassination attempt during the party’s long march in Wazirabad. The former prime minister was shot in the leg, according to two party leaders. Celebrities across the country and beyond, including Mufti Ismail Menk, Osman Khalid Butt, Dananeer Mobeen, Veena Malik, Rohail Hyatt, Sana Javed, Haroon Shahid, have been sending their prayers to Khan and condemning the attack.
