Missing Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss? New Pakistani reality show Tamasha Ghar has entered the chat
Reality shows seems to be catching on in Pakistan if the popularity of India’s Bigg Boss, Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking, The Ultimatum, The Circle, Love is Blind and a host of other shows is any indication. Pakistani producers seem to have finally caught on and developed our very own reality show called Tamasha Ghar. But keen-eyed netizens have spotted a lot of similarities with Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss.
The show began airing on August 20 on ARY Digital with Adnan Siddiqui as the host and judge. He started the first episode with his flute skills before introducing the contestants — actors Aamna Malick, Umer Aalam, Maira Khan, Humaira Asghar, Mareeha Safdar, Saeeda Imtiaz and Saim Ali.
The show also sees TV host Aadi Adeal Amjad, singer Nouman Javaid, comedian Rauf Lala, choreographer Nigah Jee, model Faiza Khan and fitness trainer Sehr Beg as contestants.
Netizens believe the show is very similar to India’s Bigg Boss, which has a similar set design. Some Twitter users took the opportunity to make memes about the similarities.
Adnan Siddiqui is quite used to being fodder for memes by now so we’re sure he won’t be surprised he’s on people’s radars once again.
One user jumped to defend the show. They wrote that the people who are calling the show a copy of Bigg Boss must realise that the Indian show is also a copy of the Uk’s Big Brother and that the format of the show has been made all over the world. “At least we should appreciate our people,” they reasoned.
Another shared a funny(ish) moment from the show.
One user wasn’t sure about having Siddiqui inside the house. In Bigg Boss, Salman Khan isn’t actually inside the house.
But not everyone liked him as a judge. This user called him “annoying” for getting angry at Maira without a reason and for resembling a teacher scolding students.
Another questioned why the show host is being the “bigg boss” and how weird it is to see him alongside other contestants.
This user called out celebrity choreographer Nigah Jee for being rude.
The reality show airs every day on Ary at 9pm. With three episodes released so far, four contestants have already made it to the elimination round — Nigah Jee, Faiza, Aalam, Malick and comedian Rauf Lala.
