Ed Sheeran collaborates with Indian singer Armaan Malik for '2Step'
Indian singer Armaan Malik had been dropping hints about a big collab on Instagram but we didn't even imagine it was an international collaboration. On Monday, the singer announced his song with British singer Ed Sheeran.
The song '2Step' has been released on Spotify and YouTube Music, however, the music video is not out yet.
According to The Indian Express, Malik said in a statement, “I am beyond excited to be featured on this version of '2step' with Ed Sheeran! He’s always been such an inspiration, and I’m a big fan of his music and incredible song writing. This is a huge moment not only for me, but also for other Indian artistes too. I genuinely believe that this will be the beginning for a lot more collaborations of this nature.”
He added the song is “about confidence, finding power in your art, and leaning on your loved ones. When we have the support of the people we love, we can overcome any adversity. Nothing can keep us from moving forward. Two steps at a time.”
As soon as the singer made the announcement online, many of his friends and fans took to social media to express their excitement for the upcoming collaboration. His brother Amaal Malik commented under the post and wrote, "What a song can’t wait…Big moves.”
Playback singer Harshdeep Kaur and actor Tara Sutaria expressed how "proud" they are of him. Gehraiyaan actor Siddhant Chaturvedi also left a heart-eyed emoji.
Sheeran had originally released the single last October as part of his fourth solo album titled = (equals). A few months later he released the music video featuring American rapper Lil Baby. The music video was shot in Ukraine in the city of Kyiv prior to the on-going military escalation between Russia and Ukraine.
