Three rom-com TV dramas looking to reign supreme in April
It's time to update your television watchlist folks — there are some new television dramas heading our way in April. If you're wondering which TV dramas await you next week onwards, wonder no further. Here's a list of three rom-com TV dramas to look out for, starring some of television's most popular actors.
Dramas Hum Tum, Paristan and Chaudhry and Sons will air on television starting Monday. These three upcoming dramas fall under the rom-com category, similar to their highly successful predecessors Chupke Chupke, Suno Chanda and Tanaa Banaa. While the genre is the same, Hum Tum, Paristan and Chaudhry and Sons seem to be offering unique new plots that promise to entertain.
Paristan
Paristan stars the popular on-screen pair Aymen Saleem and Arsalan Naseer alongside Javeria Saud, Merub Ali, Mira Sethi, Ali Safina, Junaid Jamshed Niazi, Navin Waqar and — debuting on television for the very first time — vlogger Taimoor Salahuddin (Mooroo).
The story revolves around a woman named Pernia (played by Saleem) who lives in her own world of fantasies while her lover Arsam (played by Naseer) faces challenges on his own. By the looks of the show's teaser, both live in the same house alongside family members embroiled in their own experiences and love interests.
Drama Paristan is written by novelist Samra Bukhari (who also wrote the script for drama Gul-e-Rana) and is directed by Ali Hasan, director of drama Dil Ruba starring Hania Aamir, Mohib Mirza and Nabeel Zuberi.
The drama will air Monday to Friday on HUM TV at 7pm.
Hum Tum
Why have one rom-com when you can have two, said the folks at HUM TV HQ. Upcoming drama Hum Tum will air alongside Paristan on HUM TV, starring Ahad Raza Mir, Ramsha Khan, Sarah Khan and Junaid Khan in lead roles. The drama has been described as a "2022, modern and Gen Z rendition of a hate to love story" in the description of its teaser clips on YouTube.
Cousins Neha (Khan) and Adam (Mir) are two opposites attracted to each other against all odds (and arguments). Their contradicting likes and dislikes as chemistry students bring them together — but for all the wrong reasons. Uzma Beg and Farhan Ally Agha will also be seen in the show alongside Khan and Mir.
Hum Tum is written by Saima Akram Chaudhry and directed by Danish Nawaz, both of whom previously worked together on drama serial Chupke Chupke.
The drama will air Monday to Friday at 9pm.
Chaudhry and Sons
Following Chupke Chupke, Ayeza Khan is all set to star in upcoming drama Chaudhry and Sons. She will be seen alongside Imran Ashraf, Sohail Ahmed, Asma Abbas, Irsa Ghazal, Noor ul Hassan, Zoya Nasi, Madiha Rizvi, Shagufta Ejaz, Yasir Nawaz and Sami Khan in the light-hearted drama.
The drama is about a desi family split in half, with one side raised in Lahore 'Punjabi style' while the other (consisting of Khan and Ghazal) live in Hyderabad. The drama is written by Hum Tum's writer Saima Akram Chaudhry and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain.
Details about the drama's release date and time are yet to be announced.
While not much has been revealed about Hum Tum, Paristan and Chaudhry and sons apart from a few teasers and promotional posters, the shows certainly promise to entertain viewers.
