The wildest show about matchmaking in India just got renewed for a second season.

Netflix announced the news that Indian Matchmaking is getting a second season with a picture of Sima Taparia, popularly known on the show as Sima aunty.

According to Newsweek, Netflix recently announced a casting call for people over 18 years who live in the US, the UK, Canada or Ireland and are looking for love.

The show has been criticised for being problematic and bringing out the worst of desi rishta culture.

In the series, Taparia, a marriage consultant from Mumbai, helps a group of eight young people find their perfect match. Her looks of quiet judgment and one-liners made her a meme star and the series a hit.

However, the show received a lot of flak online for propagating sexism, casteism, and classism.

Over 90% of the Netflix shows are trash. They keep producing these shows at a wholesale rate without consideration of maintaining quality. I am thinking about canceling my membership. In contrast, Amazon Prime, AppleTV+, and Hulu, etc. doing a fine job. Unfortunately, we can't see most of their shows in Pakistan, at least not legally.
