Netflix and Legendary were deeply motivated by the premiere of the Enola Holmes movie last fall, and the success it saw. Now they've announced that they have begun development of the next film in the series, with Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill returning to play their characters.

Netflix made the announcement saying, "The adventure continues as Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill return to the world of Enola Holmes, reteaming with director Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne on a second film based on Nancy Springer’s book series about Sherlock Holmes’ brilliant sister."

Actor Brown also announced the sequel on Instagram, saying it is officially afoot.

The film is based on Nancy Springer’s Edgar Award-nominated six-book series, The Enola Holmes Mysteries. The first and fifth books in the series were nominated for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010 respectively. The story is the tale of Enola Holmes, Sherlock Holmes' super-smart younger sister, who also happens to be a detective. It seeks to give a female twist to the stories of the world's greatest detective by creating a strong character that often outsmarts and outwits her much revered brother.

The first part of the film became the second-most watched item on Netflix in its opening week, and in the five days that followed it became the most watched. The film later went on to become the biggest first day opening Netflix title in 2020.

Fans across the world are excited by the news.

We're excited too, and are sure the Holmes' adventures will be fun to watch.

That would be interesting.......lets hope they tone it down a bit. Turning her into a super woman, doing all sorts of acrobatic fight sequences would be a put off.
