Marvel celebrates National Super Hero Day with new Black Widow promo
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has re-indulged its starving fans, spurring excitement with some not-so-fresh content. Using National Super Hero Day in the US as an excuse, they have released a short teaser consisting of the character's feature in previous films.
In the promo, two-time Academy Award nominated actor Scarlett Johansson teases with a look back at Natasha Romanoff's story, with an amalgamation of the actor's past shots playing the character in movies Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame on screen.
The featurette begins with Johansson saying, "How much do you really know about the elusive Natasha Romanoff?" And as action packed scenes follow one after another on screen, her voiceover says, "When it was time to assemble the Avengers, who did SHIELD call? Former KGB assassin, agent of SHIELD, and Avenger, she fought through the battle of New York, squared off against the Winter Soldier, defended the world against Ultron, she signed the Sokovia Accords, dealt with all that fall out, and beat back the forces of Thanos. When all seemed lost, she held the team together but how well do you really know her? It's time for her story. You've been waiting for this."
The movie was initially announced to release in May 2020, and underwent a thorough a marketing campaign for its promotion. It was everywhere — fans counting days, reviewers getting their pens ready. Later, in March 2021, Marvel unexpectedly announced its decision to delay the release by two months to July 9, 2021. The film will be released in theatres and on Disney Plus with an added premiere access fee. Sadly, Disney Plus is still no where in sight in Pakistan.
As part of the preparation for the initial planned release, Marvel Studios released a trailer on March 2020. The trailer, now boasting over 28 million views, went viral online.
However, the delay announcement last month called for a renewed marketing strategy, and was followed by a second trailer, released earlier this month.
We're as excited as you for the movie and our fingers are crossed for Marvel to stick to the release date this time.
