Prince Harry opens up about why he stepped away from the royal family

The Crown is loosely based on the truth, he tells James Corden.

After Prince Harry and Meghan stepped away as working members of the royal family in a bid to secure privacy for themselves and their son, many took to social media to discuss, debate and gossip.

However, in a recent interview with James Corden for The Late Late Show, Prince Harry revealed that the duo made the decision to step back after their mental health was "destroyed" by "toxic" media attention.

This revelation came after Buckingham Palace formally announced that the couple would not be resuming responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service, and would be stepping away from the work of the royal family.

"We all know what the British press can be like, and it was destroying my mental health. I was like, This is toxic. So I did what any husband and any father would do — I was like, I need to get my family out of here," he said.

"But we never walked away," he added. "As far as I'm concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away. I will always be contributing."

Harry said his life is always going to be about public service. "And Meghan signed up to that. The two of us enjoy doing that — trying to bring some compassion and trying to make people happy, and trying to change the world in whatever small way we can."

Speaking about how he first met his wife, the youngest prince then admitted "it wasn't more about where we went but how we hit it off. We were just so comfortable with each other's company."

He also spoke about all the ways being with a companion to a royal prince was different from others.

"Being with me or any other member of the royal family, things flip upside down. All the dates become dinners or watching TV or chatting at home. Then when you become a couple, then you can venture out in public to cinemas and everything else — so everything was done back to front for us."

Finally, speaking about The Crown and admitted that while it was fiction "it was loosely based on the truth."

The couple is expecting their second child soon.

Toxic media attention is what they are now getting 4 times more than before. It is hardly a day, when they are not on world media.

Why are these royal families in the news? What's the purposes? If they want privacy, a good idea is to keep quiet. Publicizing pregnancies and childbirth is cheap attention seeking syndrome of discarded celebraties.

Media is an excuse but the truth is that he never accepted the murder of his mother.

I don't believe anyone is "royal" or deserves special treatment by virtue of his or her birth. I do wish Harry and Megan a calm, peaceful, happy and healthy life as ordinary human beings like the rest of us non-royals.

@Vijay B. Each person has a role to play while on this earth, regardless of his/her station. Honourable people, be they prime ministers, corporate CEOs, etc. do not go out of their way to demand special treatment. Quite the opposite. The late Princess Diana saw to it that her two sons, Harry and William, had regular interactions with every day people, so as not to lose touch with reality. Queen Elizabeth II herself, at the age of 18, took the initiative to serve in the military, and become a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) and also trained as a truck driver and auto mechanic. There are photos of those days posted online. Her mother, the 'Queen Mum', chose to stay with the people, even as Buckingham Palace was bombed several times during World War Two. Prince Harry, for his part, is seeking to live life the way he feels is best for himself and his family.

It’s a human nature that public figures also wants privacy but media always want not to leave any stone unturned to leave the public figures alone. A common man facing too many problems in his life while walking on the streets is mentally satisfied that no body bothers about him as what he is upto? Public figures at times are mentally tired that each and every movement of their lives whether it is official or personal are exposed in the print electronic or on social media and this is one of the reasons that some public figures takes a break to go on vacations every year to get mental relief. Prince Harry and Meghan also wants to remain out of the reach of the media, but despite their best efforts they cannot hide themselves from the eyes of the cameras. Some people want to get fame so that they should become talk of the town, but the famous people like Prince Harry and Meghan do not want that people should gossip about each every moment of their personal lives including the media
