Championing success by celebrating those who have made it, and those who aspire to make it, the Forbes list curates the most influential leaders who in their quest for growth and drive for change are significantly impacting the world around them.
This year, taking the world by storm were celebrities who despite a global pandemic and subsequent lockdown, managed to keep their fans afloat. With a massive following on digital spaces, they not only advocated to raise awareness on important issues but also used their platforms for some fun and entertainment.
Thus, it came as no surprise when our very own superstars, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam and Aiman Muneeb, made it to the list bagging a position on Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars List, spotlighting Asia-Pacific’s most influential celebs on social media.
One of the most prominent (and might we add effortlessly beautiful) faces in our entertainment industry, Mahira Khan, 35, will return to the screen this year with action drama The Legend of Maula Jatt, Pakistan’s most expensive film to date.
According to the American business magazine, "Khan uses her social media presence—nearly 7 million Instagram followers and over 4 million on Facebook—to raise awareness about mental health issues, violence against women and breast cancer."
Released in the month of May as people were losing hope confined at home during the isolation period, Pakistan's chart-topping musician Atif Aslam released the Asma-ul-Husna, reciting 99 Names of Allah to encourage his followers in times of distress and despair.
His recitation, garnered up 22 million views on Youtube, instantly became a hit among his fans.
The Doori singer "urged his 20 million Facebook followers to stay home to curb the spread of the coronavirus," quoted Forbes.
Aiman Khan (Aiman Muneeb) with nearly 8 million followers is the most followed Pakistani celebrity on Instagram. She and twin sister, Minal run the clothing site Aiman Minal Closet, which has already racked 249,000 Instagram followers.
Last year, she was nominated for Best Actress at Pakistan’s Hum Awards, getting a nod for her roles in TV shows Ishq Tamasha and Baandi.
Akshay Kumar (Bollywood's highest paid actor), Amitabh Bachchan (a veteran of over 200 movies), Alia Bhatt (one of India’s highest-paid actresses), Shahrukh Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Neha Kakkar, Madhuri Dixit and Katrina Kaif are other popular names from Bollywood that made it to the list.
