Fakhre Alam urges PM Imran Khan to enforce a coronavirus lockdown

"We Pakistanis don't listen. You're going to tell us to stay home and we're going to go for a picnic." Man's got a point

Fakhre Alam has a plan on how to handle the coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan.

Taking to social media, the actor posted a two-part video, listing some important measures that should be taken to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

While his message was specifically for PM Imran Khan, the viral video has been viewed by thousands of people.

Alam says, "Dear honourable Prime Minister, we all know that you have a lot of compassion for everyone, but especially Pakistanis. There's no doubt about that. But I know this will be the ultimate challenge of your leadership."

"As a humble citizen, I want to say that on the one side the government has appealed to the citizens that they stay at home and practice social distancing. But as a result of that, the lower-income bracket and the daily wage earner is also affected by that decision, as people are not going out or going to work, so the daily earner is not earning anything as it is."

Alam wants the Prime Minister to reconsider that decision and has instead given some alternative solutions to implement.

"I suggest we create rationing depot at different points in our cities, especially those areas where the lower-income bracket resides. And we implement a complete two-week curfew, so we can mitigate this disease and the process of mass infection. Secondly, school fee needs to be written off as parents are not going to work and need their resources and utility bills need to be deferred, so there's less pressure on the country as a whole."

Alam says Pakistanis are not taking the virus and the advised social distancing seriously and are going out to picnics when they should really be staying home.

According to him, a complete clampdown and a curfew-like situation is the need of the hour and reiterates that in this case, PM Khan will not have the luxury to go back and change the decisions he makes today.

Alam is right. The reason ring that despite the internet and information being click away for the literates, there is somuch ignorance and laziness in seeking out well established information and precautions. Instead homemade remedies without proof are passed around on social media and through WhatsApp as solutions. The government is not doing their job well enough, when average people don't know what the Corona virus is or what precautions they should take and things like masks sanitizers aren't affordable by the average man and families. This breaks my heart. Because we are not equipped to handle health crises of this magnitude.

Mr. Fakhar Alam, his highness Imran Khan will only listen to you if he finds a benifit in Lockdown for him self or if he becomes famous for it, for now since Sindh has initiated he will resist it as he is not going to gain any thing from it.
