Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir got hitched over the weekend in Abu Dhabi and we're still drooling over the photos.

Can you blame us, just look at them!

Following their intimate nikkah surrounded by close friends and family, the two hosted their guests at a wedding dinner where Ahad changed out of his sherwani into a classic white shirt and a suit sans tie. Sajal too changed her ensemble and slipped into something more comfortable.

And familiar. Judging from the very few glimpses we got on social media, the Yeh Dil Mera actor wore her bespoke Zara Shahjehan engagement number again.

With wedding attendees.
With wedding attendees.

As women like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama have shown the world, a good repeat speaks volumes. We know that the clothing industry contributes more to climate change than international aviation and shipping combined; there is no shame in investing in ethical and timeless fashion pieces and recycling/rewearing them.

Big props to Sajal for normalising that. A true sustainable style icon, we stan.

Wedding dresses are definitely the biggest wastage of resources and burden on the parents. If we could find a way back to the days in 60s when we adopted fabric saving designs of apparels under difficult financial times, it would be a big contribution towards solving our present economic difficulties.

If she wore her engagement dress again at the wedding dinner, she has done a very remarkable service to our society where no woman ever wears a party dress twice, not even in lower lower middle class.

I am glad that you reported on this. Clothing and textiles are causing environmental havoc with Pakistan producing all that cotton, sucking our water systems dry. It is important to repeat the clothes we wear and also buy second hand

So what if she wore same dress? Majority of our population doesn’t have any nice outfit to wear!

It's quite simple but I like the idea of recycling. Using a dress worth lakhs one time only? It was her big day and what, she wore, doesn't matter. Who, she will be spending her life with, matters. She did well for herself. I am no fan but pleased she found love again. All the best!

"There is no shame in investing in ethical and timeless fashion pieces and recycling/rewearing them." No there is certainly no shame .... yet this article calls her out on it as if it should be considered something unusual. Who amongst us can afford outfits to wear only once? A woman wearing the same dress twice is NOT news!

It's a good thing that she did. There is no point being extravagant to show off to people who have nothing better to do than to worry about what someone wore. Overall, we as a society, have to grow up and think about bigger things than to worry about what someone wore.

Massive respect for Sajjal Ali. These are the kind of celebrities we need to promote who not just talk good but act good too. Wearing new dresses on every occasion creates social pressure for future brides which becomes a big problem for families with weak financial standing. Secondly, the concept of reusing is great from an environmental perspective too. One of the few celebrity couples who are genuine, are humble and actually great actors too. May the two have a happy married life with lots of happiness and joy.
