Bushra Ansari spoke up about her divorce for the first time on Ahsan Khan's talk show

The actor, who got divorced many years ago, said that when famous couples separate, it breaks people's hearts.

Veteran actress, playwright and Pakistan's favourite comedian, Bushra Ansari, was recently asked about her divorce in a candid interview by Ahsan Khan on his show Bol Nights.

Responding to Khan's question about whether Ansari consciously chooses not to talk about her divorce publically or whether she doesn't like to talk about it at all, an unfazed Ansari replied, "Actually, many years have passed since my divorce."

She continued, "Our clan—that includes my friends Rubina Ashraf, Samina Ahmed, Saba Hameed and even Uzma Gillani—had a good image and spent a fulfilling 'family life' with our children while being in showbiz, especially during our PTV days. So we have a drawing of a good family life, which is in front of everyone."

"But when there is a disturbance in that, and since I'm not the sort of who blames people and gets angry, I feel people get very perturbed about such things. I don't like discussing such things. For example, Jamal Shah and Faryal were such a great couple; even Tahira Saeed and Naeem Bokhari were such a beautiful couple. But when these couples separated, it broke people's hearts and saddened them."

"In truth, people don't know what the actual problems are between couples. And it's not that only actors go through such things, even bankers and doctors go through similar cases, male or female. So I felt when it came to such a personal issue, there was no need to share it with the entire nation."

Good on Ansari for talking about it on her own terms; even if you're a public figure, you have the right to keep aspects of your private life out of the public sphere. We all know that in the world we live in today, there is less if no clarity about what the bounds of privacy are. And in such a situation, the less said, the better.

Sensible response by Ms Ansari. Although her personal life is nobody's business, sometimes people in the limelight are expected by the fickle public to make some sort of statement about private matters. The world is a very nosy place.

I respect her right to protect her private life. Even though celebrities may appear as public property, their private lives should not be exploited by the media. There are many reasons that can lead to a divorce. I don't think it was appropriate for Ahsan Khan to bring up the topic of her divorce.

It s the most sensible answer. She must be a very decent individual. I hope the Press will leave her alone.

Indeed, a very mature character in media. She took a determined decision not to speak about personal life openly in the media unlike many other actors. Unfortunately, our media - audience are also not immune to this- remains in lurk to come out with sensational news. Clearly, it is an attempt to gain more TRP ratings, irrespective of the moral and ethical values. Moreover, audience's taste has changed with time and they are also more interested in that kind of news. Eventually, our ethos and moral are on decline and social fabric is eroding in sense of morality and patience. Surprisingly, this kind of etiquette of media is linked to societal degradation as media shapes the opinions. According to theory "Cultivation of Truth" media's frequent news seem true to audience. Resultantly, society has changed and people are less social and more isolated. It is because our behaviour and conduct have been affected by Media reporting , which is indeed an alarming situation.

She's reinvented herself at this age. Not many women in Pakistan can do this, even in their 20s; post divorce.

You previous husband Mr. Iqbal Ansari is a great human being. I know him since he was a junior clerk at Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi and assistant producer at Pakistan Television Rawalpindi Station with Jamshed Farshori and Jahangir Raza. He is a humble and down to earth family man. matter of fact, he is the one push you become star, he is your mentor and guide. You blame Iqbal or not but everybody knows that he is a very simple man and you are always flying high, I mean too high, that is big problem with Pakistani female television stars. Question is why they are all divorced, before becoming a big stars they were all living a happy family life.

Personal life of celebrities should not be discussed publicly either on print or electronic media. Divorce is very painful process between husband and wife which also affect the children, therefore, a personal matter and should always be kept personal and should not be digged any more with any one to maintain the human dignity.

True. It is personal. However, wasn't she married to Iqbal Ansari? If yes and got divorced from that relationship then why the name tag? It just gives false impression. Just like Saba Pervaiz became Saba Hameed after the divorce.

Why does Bushra feel the need to speak of her divorce publicly? Is there a cultural duty to do so to placate rumour mongers?
