In a police report presented in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Azeem Shaikh in relation to the domestic violence case against actor Mohsin Abbas Haider, the investigation officer found Haider guilty of hurling threats against his wife Fatema Sohail.

The IO's report absolved Haider of a breach of trust charge regarding a sum of Rs5m that Sohail had earlier claimed she had given to the actor. Moreover, the report also absolved Haider of a charge alleging that the actor had held a gun to his wife's head.

After the IO's report was presented, Haider's counsel Adnan Tariq petitioned the court to allow his client to withdraw his application for interim bail in relation to the charges around hurling threats. Tariq said the accusations of his client hurling threats against the complainant were of a less severe nature and that an interim bail was no longer needed.

The court accepted Tariq's plea and returned the actor's bail application.

Fatema had accused the actor of domestic abuse last month, following which an FIR was registered under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR had included charges that Haider had hurled life threats against the complainant.

After today's court proceedings, the actor's lawyer, Adnan Tariq claimed in a Facebook video that Haider was let off the hook as the investigation found no money trail to establish the breach of trust charge.

Tariq added that following the IO's report, the defence requested to withdraw interim bail in the charge relating to hurling threats and told the court that it was a minor offense which did not require a bail application.

"The police has come to the conclusion that the allegations are baseless and false. Because of this we have withdrawn our plea for bail today," he said. According to reports, the court has accepted Haider's request and returned the bail application.

Speaking about the legal proceedings, Haider said there was victory in truth and claimed that the court had declared him innocent.

He also said he had suffered physical and financial losses due to this case and denied rumours of a second marriage, saying this was part of a campaign to malign him: "I had just requested everyone that don't believe every crying woman and investigate. I didn't say anything for this long because I was having a legal war and now the result is here."

He added, "Now I hope to see the reactions of those who went against me. What I found cute was the people in my own fraternity who unfriended me from Facebook."

During today's court appearance, the prosecution and defence were instructed to present their final arguments and evidence at the next hearing.

After Haider claimed that he had been found innocent, Fatema took to Instagram saying Haider was "disseminating this false propaganda on media that he’s innocent":

"Police has found him guilty of criminal intimidation however wrongfully expunged Section 406 related to criminal breach of trust. Police is so hands in gloves with him that the moment he withdrew his bail, the investigating officer in court was supposed to arrest him immediately for being found guilty under Section 506. However, he went scot-free with a smile on his face."

Simply, contradictions and more contradictions to confuse public - one party claiming victory without having full investigation report. This is normal in Pakistan, where even convicted politicians claim they are innocent. Amazing and very sad!
