Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next movie will be about discrimination based on skin colour
Bollywood director/producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his gorgeous epics but his next project will scale back for a more slice of life script.
According to rumours published in Indian publications, Bhansali's next film will tackle colourism in India, that is, the discrimination faced by people with warm skin tones and its impact on their professional and love lives. The film will be a subtle takedown of the beauty industry that propagates false ideas about dark skin.
This will reportedly be the first film on the subject in Bollywood. Bhansali is said to be seeking to launch a new actor with this project, especially since a fresh face will make the film more relatable.
It's also being reported that Bhansali will only produce the film and a yet-to-be-announced director will helm the project.
At present, Bhansali is producing Inshallah starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt.
