Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan singer Shahnaz Begum passes away at 67

The singer, residing in Bangladesh, suffered a cardiac arrest.

Shahnaz Begum, the voice behind the famous Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhe and Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan passed away on Sunday in Dhaka.

The 67-year-old Bangladeshi singer suffered a cardiac arrest.

Twitter flooded with tributes as people remembered her contribution to the music industry.

Shahnaz Begum was born on January 2,1952. She has been awarded the Ekushey Padak (1992), the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer (1990).

I always loved her beautiful voice and very inspiring songs. The news of her passing away at this auspicious occasion when Pakistan is celebrating 23 March festivities , is very sad. Beautiful soft voice and soul. Pakistanis will always remember her. Her songs brings the fond memories and love whenever we hear her songs and see videos. My six year old son sings her Pakistani patriotic songs here in US. I wish and hope she is recognized at the national level by Pakistan govt. for giving us those beautiful patriotic songs.
