Kami Sid's been trailblazing ever since she hit the entertainment industry.

The activist became the first transgender model paving the way for many more, and continued to break barriers and create awareness about transgender rights. She can now add another feather to her cap as her short film Rani just won an award.

Rani made its way to the NBC Universal Short Film Festival where it got nominated for several awards including Best Actor for Kami and Best Writer and it won the latter.

Kami, who was invited to the festival and screening said, "I'm so happy I was invited [to the festival]. People here gave me a standing ovation for my performance and I was even nominated for best actress and it means a lot."

She added, "This is an amazing achievement because every year NBC selects 14 movies out of around 3500 and out of those, six are selected as the finalists. Rani made it to top six and they invited me specially to attend because of this."

She wore a custom-made Deepak and Fahad to the event and had an amazing time on the red carpet and the award ceremony.
