Many people already know Kami Sid as an activist who has worked relentlessly for the transgender community in Pakistan.

Sid also made headlines when she debuted as a model in November last year and now, the trailer for her upcoming short film, Rani has been released. The upcoming flick has been directed by US-based director Hammad Rizvi and produced by Karachi-based production house GrayScale as well as Rizvilia Productions.

Excuse us while we pick our jaws off the floors.

As assistant producer Omema Nasir shared with Images in an earlier interview, "Rani tells the story of a transgender who makes a living by selling toys on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan. One day she finds an abandoned baby, lying in a cradle outside an orphanage. Overcome by emotion, she picks the baby and takes it home. Later, after a series of distressing events, she realises the discrimination the child would face as a result of her decision."

Great to see that someone from the most marginalized community in our country has an emerging star who can shine light on much needed social issues.

Pakistan can lead the fight to bring respect and decency to this marginalized society. The rest of Asia can look, see and follow the trends in Pakistan where Illama Iqbal University is offering fee tuition to the transgender society to help educate, and move to a better life so they can be honorable citizens of Pakistan and when respect is given then it can also be accepted
