Swara Bhasker thinks her "failing state" comment is bringing Pakistan and India closer

The Indian actor responds to the backlash for her recent comments about Pakistan
04 Jun, 2018

Veere Di Wedding actor Swara Bhasker came under the spotlight last week for calling Pakistan a "failing state" while commenting on her film's ban in Pakistan at an online talk show.

Her comment, of course, did not go down well with people in Pakistan and celebrities like Urwa Hocane and Gohar Rasheed called her out for the careless remark as well as her hypocrisy. They reminded her of her 2015 remarks on Pakistani chat show Mazaaq Raat, in which she referred to Lahore as the "best" she has ever visited.

Swara has responded to the backlash in as cavalier a manner as she made the offending remarks. Since her comment also sparked criticism in India, she said she's happy to have brought Pakistan and India closer:

In response to another tweet about the controversy, she agreed that there's a difference between people and their governments and that her "regard for and goodwill towards the people of #Pakistan remains unchanged":

As she comes up in her career, we hope Swara demonstrates more responsibility in her public statements.

Hypocrisy at its best, and such hypocrisy shown by SWARA is way too dangerous.

Too little, too late. Bollywood has the power to bridge the gaps, but it doesn't have the capability to destroy the bridges that aren't there. Swara was loved for her comments on Lahore, but the goodwill she had earn has evaporated into thin air. Pakistanis gave their guest a star status, she couldn't handle it and spilled it.

Her comment was regarding the state of Pakistan and NOT about the people of the country. She has repeated herself and said Lahore is the the best place she has ever visited.

Still don't get the hype about her comments? Why give importance to such a non-entity? Remember: she pretends to be someone else for money, and she is not good at it.
