According to Indian media reports, Indian police have registered an FIR against veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra for a sexual assault incident that took place 47 years ago.

The FIR was requested by the actor's cousin who claims that Jeetendra sexually abused her when she was 18 years old. She alleges that the actor had arranged for a meet from New Delhi to Shimla at the set of his shoot. During her stay he returned to the hotel room drunk and sexually assaulted her. He was 28 at the time.

The police stated that “an FIR under section 354 IPC has been registered at Chotta Shimla police station. After her email, we got in touch with the complainant, who later had also sent us a written complaint to support her version”.

However, the police have said that the investigations will take place under the old law provisions of 1971 when the alleged assault took place.

The complainant has not yet provided details of the incident; like the name of the hotel and her proof of stay.

It will be interesting to see how this cousin is planning to support and prove her allegations after 48 years in the first place, and then that the interlude was not consensual? Isn't this carrying "Me Too" a bit too far?

After 47 years? No one in her right mind will file such a complaint even if it actually happened. Must be some personal enmity. The lady must be grandma now. Jitendra was known to be 'jumping jack' as it means. Old follies catching up? Poor man.

@Alba Not that fast. 47 years later statutory energy of Law dwindles, witnesses are no more, Hotel records were not compterized. There will be no indictment let alone conviction.

#meetoo movement is likely to have long term beneficial impact after such instances of sexual harassment come up to the surface. It will be effective deterrent for any respectable, career-minded man.

@Jamil Soomro, New York City does it say he has been convicted anywhere? It is an allegation yet to be proved.

@Ds Agreed he has not yet been convicted. But the fact is that the Indian Police has officially registered the FIR against him.Why would a cousin register such a serious accusation with the Police against her cousin brother Jeetendra if this were not true?
