Padmaavat's been in the midst of a whirlwind since the last few months and Sonam Kapoor knows how ugly it got.

The Bollywood actor, whose film Padman is clashing with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, wished the director luck and hopes that no film faces the same issues Padmaavat did.

"I haven't worked with him (Bhansali) for 10 years since my first film released. I have been in touch with him. I wish him all the best for his film. I hope the film releases and I won't wish this (protest) on anybody," said Sonam.

Though the two films will battle it out at the box office, neither of the film's teams are deterred by the clash. They believe that since both the films present a different subject matter, the conflict won't be of much consequence.

Speaking on the topic of Padman, Sonam said, "There is a lot of stigma attached to menstrual hygiene and hopefully a film like this will change the mindset of people to an extent and even create awareness. I hope India is progressing towards a better future."

"The idea to make any kind of art be it films or anything is to reach out to more people and propagate something to change. Any change would be welcome with our film," added the star.

Padman is due to release on Jan 25.
