Iqra Aziz and Shehzad Sheikh pair up again for upcoming serial
Fans of Choti Si Zindagi have much to celebrate about; Iqra Aziz and Shehzad Sheikh are teaming up for another serial.
HUM TV's latest production Tabeer will see the two stars on-screen together again and the duo are rather enthusiastic to be working alongside, especially with director Ahson Talish on-board. Images got in touch with all three to ask about their upcoming serial and here's what they had to say.
"I am very excited because when Ahson bhai first told me about the script, I told him right there and then, 'Ahson bhai you're not going anywhere, I'm doing this script, no matter what'," Iqra said.
The script, written by actor Imran Ashraf, has the actors and the director hooked.
"This is Imran's debut sceenplay," Iqra added. Talking about her character she continued, "It is such a beautiful character, I fell in love with it and Imran Ashraf wrote the script so well, I never once felt the need to fake cry, if there is an emotional scene which moves you to tears, that'll naturally happen when you watch it."
Echoing the actor's sentiments, Ahson said, "Around a year and a half ago I received two episodes [of the script] and I read them and asked who had done it. The writing was very mature from the dialogues, I was surprised when I found out it was by Imran Ashraf, I called him up and told him this is mine and continue writing the script. Due to some problems we weren't able to take the project forward then, but now it's taking shape."
“The script is dark, sad, but the good thing is the dialogue, the USP are the dialogues, the story is strong, more about the emotions, of a girl and how she deals with the turmoil."
Shehzad Sheikh refused to tell us about the storyline but he gave us a brief idea with a teaser. "I cannot disclose the story because I'm not allowed to, however, I cam tell you that the character I'm playing in Tabeer is nothing like the ones I've done before. The story mostly revolves around Iqra and me... many situations are not in your control but God makes them work in ways to make things easier for you if your intentions are clean."
Having worked with the director previously, Iqra and Shehzad have a sense of his work ethic and their chemistry aligns with Ahson's.
“This is my dream team working with Ahson Talish,” said Iqra. “I've worked with him in Deewana. That was two years ago and I really enjoyed working on it. which is why I was excited to be a part of this project.”
And Shehzad Sheikh agreed, "What's special about Tabeeer is that it's being directed by Ahson Talish, I just recently worked with him on Alif Allah Aur Insaan. I'm sure people are going to like the drama and my chemistry with Iqra."
Ahson explained his only requirement when getting actors on board is commitment. "My deal with my actors is that I want commitment, because sometimes we're jumping from episode 2 to episode 11, sometime episode 3, so unless there is commitment, you cannot create the moods or grasp it."
"All three have done such a beautiful job -- even though Iqra and Shehzad have such great chemistry and Imran's role and the script -- which is great, but there is an important character of the grandmother, [played by] Azra mansoor. According to her, she has not done such a big and difficult character in her career."
Tabeer also stars Imran Ashraf, Bee Gul, Zainab Ahmed, Ali Safina, Amir Qureshi, Azra Mansoor. It will hit TV screens end of December or early Jan next year.
