Kangana Ranaut defends Zaira Wasim against critics of her harassment claim

"For me, it is highly offensive. I would have broken his leg," she said
17 Dec, 2017

Last week, Dangal star Zaira Wasim recounted on Instagram her experience of molestation during a Delhi-Mumbai flight.

On her Instagram story, the actor shared an image of a foot stretched out on her armrest. She described that while she was sleeping on the two-hour flight from Delhi to Mumbai, she woke up to a foot rubbing against her back and neck.

"... right behind me one middle aged man made my 2-hour journey miserable," she wrote in her Insta story.

While the airline apologised and vowed to investigate the matter, Zaira's story also attracted critics who doubted the veracity of her story. Some questioned why she did not speak up during the incident, while others went as far as term the incident as a publicity stunt.

However, Kangana Ranaut is having none of it.

According to Filmfare, the Queen actor praised Zaira as having made a brave decision to talk about the incident.

She said, "Now, I am not in that position so, I don't know what kind of harassment it was. But everyone agrees on one thing that the foot was on her armrest. This is wrong. It is very wrong. Why are we judging her, trolling her? In this kind of environment, which is so frightening, who will speak up?

"Most people are saying that he was just keeping his foot on the armrest, taking an innocent nap. For me, it is highly offensive. I would have broken his leg.".

We're glad Kangana's got Zaira's back — someone ought to.

In my view, Zaira Wasim is a brave girl and quite rightly highlighted the unfortunate incident that happens every day at trains and buses. Such people, who do this are sick and must be punished severely. What happened to the airline employee, who was the culprit, and will this high profile case be handled justly or money will play the part?

I think all this is to make a mountain out of a molehill. The man in question has apologized, saying that he was too tired and dozed off. Not everyone should be seen as molesters. The first thing Zaira should have done was bring it to the notice of the airline staff, or she herself or her mother should have told the passenger to behave.

99% still haven't spoken up. I am from Karachi and I consider myself an independent woman. But I could not dare to talk about my harassment by a senior colleague for fear of losing my career. That man still works in the same organisation, but thank fully in a different department now. It's been 10 years since the last time he made lewd comments about me. I wonder who else he has victimised.

It is highly offensive to put your legs on someone else's armrest. Utterly disrespectful. Will the people supporting the man who did this be fine if someone does the same to them or just for fun keep kicking the back of the chair? its not molesation but is it acceptable behavior? and why are we as a society even think of supporting such a character. Kudos to Kangana for standing up for Zaira

She shoud have changed places with her mother. Her mother might have enjoyed it. This behavior is very common in Bhawalpur.
