Updated 14 Aug, 2017

Pakistani and Indian singers join hands to sing each others' national anthems for Independence Day.

An initiative by Voice of Ram, a social media page which stands up for peace, unity and humanity, the VOR Peace Anthem features 13 artists from both sides of the border in hopes of displaying love and spreading peace between Pakistan and India.

It starts with the words, "When we open our borders to art, peace comes along."

The song begins with the Pakistani national anthem which is then followed by Indian anthem Jana Gana Mana. It features Pakistani singers Natasha Baig, J Ali, Alycia Dias and Zeeshan Ali.

Filmmaker and activist Ram Subramanian, who heads Voice of Ram, told Catch News that he chose to do "these videos because a lot of people are afraid to speak about peace and it's an illogical fear. To me, these videos mean a new beginning, another small step towards peace."

Happy Independence day to all my Pakistani friends. This combination of national Anthem singing from Indian and Pakistani singers brought me to tears. Why can our leaders see that we want to live together, want to be one. Please leaders of India and Pakistan let's stop fighting and become one. If general public is willing to get along why our leaders are hesitant. Let's make better India and Pakistan for our coming generations.

its damn true that if we will open our borders to art, peace comes along." we will find much more similarities than differences amongst both nations, lets give peace a change, lets flourish and progress together..!!! Being residing in UAE, working with Indians and roaming around the globe, I have noticed people from both India and Pakistan are least concerned that what is happening on borders and whatever the media of both countries hysterically portraying and bullying each other, they become buddies here or anywhere else in the world. Peace..!!!!

Kudos! This is how this day should be celebrated. We had common history and must work on a better future together. We had some ancestors who migrated from Pakistan (Chak 26) in 1947 to Indian punjab. Talking to elders in the family, you would find so many things which are just opposite to what we are fed in the media and by the politicians. Some good guys on both sides have started interviewing elders who were affected during those troubled times and are posting those videos on Youtube. I strongly encourage readers to see these videos, heartbreaking but true. It might change your views about "Us".

While both sides the radical and evil forces of hate, hostility and division who have remained the worst enemies of peace and humanity since beginning of human history, been engaged in the worst mayhem of those who believe in unconditional love and unity, the promoters and participants of the VOR are like angels of love, peace and amity. Their soul soothing songs of love brought tears of emotions to my eyes again and again. Over whelming majority of the people both sides always wanted to live with peace and harmony as they and their elders had lived before partition but the influential forces of hatred and division have kept both the nations at 'daggers drawn', in their vested interest. Though originally we all belong from same One beloved Mother India. God bless India and God bless Pakistan.
