"Is it a boy or a girl?"

Ever since news of Kareena's pregnancy made headlines, the actor has been repeatedly asked about the gender of her baby. According to The Asian Age, the Udta Punjab actress is tired of answering this question.

“Wherever I go these days, there’s just one question Saif and I are asked, which I think is quite intrusive — ‘is it a boy or is it a girl? Have you found out?’ and I am like, ‘Excuse me? What difference does it make?’ I am a girl. I would love to have a girl. What is the difference? I think I have done probably more for my parents and my family than a son would,” said Kareena.

Speaking on being a part of Global Poverty Project and Global Education, the actress said, "I think my first reaction, as an expectant mother on this journey, was that nothing would make me happier than to be part of a movement that supports gender equality. Not just for me or my child, but for the millions and millions of children out there."

She added, "All those people who think that a girl child is considered a taboo or considered not equal enough, not up to par with a man, you must know a woman is the only soul that has the right to carry life in her and that is truly something that is a joy."

Pointing out the problem with India's approach towards marriage and pregnancy when it come to working women, Kareena feels people need to stop asking her whether she will continue working after giving birth.

“Firstly, this is very intrusive and at this point, I don’t think you should be asking me this question. But coming back to it, I think we are still in a nation where we have been asked, ‘Oh, you’re getting married! Are you still going to work? Oh, you’re having a child! Are you still going to work?’ These questions upset me.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan will next to bee seen in Veere Di Wedding alongside Sonam Kapoor. The film is being directed by Sonam's sister Rhea Kapoor and is scheduled to start shooting in March.

indeed you are a beautiful son..let us hope that our daughter grows up empowered and don't define themselves by the way she looks but by qualities that make her a intelligent, strong and responsible woman.

Weird statement coz you and sister were born with a silver spoon in the mouth. Your grandfather and father weren't exactly rickshaw pullers. Film career was almost a guarantee to both you sisters even before you became adults. Stop talking rubbish. Millions of boys from poor families have to struggle for a square meals a day.

It's a fact often seen in eastern society, girls are more helpful to parents than boys., and Kareena is one of them. Keep it up.
