ANAM FALAK
"A lot of my brides and clients are asking for a deep pinky plum right now like Sephora's Lipstain in 04 (discontinued for the moment). I personally feel the hottest shade right now is a peachy nude just dark enough to be obvious and pink enough to look like your lips are naturally flushed. I love Hourglass Cosmetic's liquid lipstick in Canvas," shares doctor/make-up artist Anam.

The key to getting a flawless pout is moisturizing and exfoliating your lips before you apply colour.
The budding entrepreneur stressed the importance of prepping for lipstick: "My ultimate lip saviour is a product also by Hourglass called No 28 Lip Treatment oil. A dab of it on your lips before applying any lipstain or lipstick prevents the lipstick from chapping off and lasts for hours!"
ANAM FAROOQ KHAN
Anam, who does make-up at Tariq Amin's salon and recently dolled up Sanam Saeed for her wedding reveals: "When one thinks of spring they think of pastels but this season, makeup in spring has changed a bit. The hottest shades this spring are shades of red, neon coral, and other berry shades."

Too scared of trying bold colours? Don't worry!
Khan also says, "For those who shy away from bright colours nude colours are very much in fashion too. The no makeup look is very much still there!"
Other shades Anam swears by are Cherish by MAC and Pink Dusk by Tom Ford.
RAANA KHAN
This young upcoming make-up artist has created quite a buzz in the city and quickly become a favourite of many models. Talking to Dawn.com, Raana says: "Fresh colours are going to be the trend. I'd say peach, corals and pinks. My clients are asking for these shades all year round!"
Another tip: Raana reveals that the Make Up For Ever lipstick palettes are her best-loved product!

NIDA ZUBERI
Zuberi, who is based out of her home in Karachi, affirms: "This season, the classic red lip has been reinvented with focus on velvety matte textures, soft edges and graduated colours. The perfect stamped-on red mouth with strict liner is slightly old-fashioned now."
A red lip is hard to pull off but Nida says you just need to find which shade works for you.
"My personal favourite among reds is 'Relentlessly Red' by MAC. It's perfect if you don't want to go the full on red route; it's a pink/coral red with perfect matte texture."
A muted red, this MAC shade is a popular choice for the ladies who prefer a subtle red. |
While plums and fuchsia are big globally too, it's interesting to note that the 90s make-up trend that has made it's way back overseas hasn't hit Pakistan yet. Mauve or nude lips with exaggerated eyeliner and wispy faux lashes are nowhere to be seen.
A little guidance is good for the fashionably challenged but remember, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to make-up. Find what works for you and work it!
