Although Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput decided to keep their wedding celebrations intimate and hush hush for the most part, a grand reception was a formality they couldn't escape!

The Palladium Hotel was the venue of choice and the shindig was attended by the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and therefore, obviously Arjun Kapoor, and many other big names from the fraternity.

As picture began to pop up on social media, we were left unimpressed by the outfit choices of the attendees.

1) Mira Rajput

Yes, we're aware she's the bride. But are you aware that she was dressed like a porcelain china plate?

The glowing bride didn't do her Nirav Modi jewels and face justice clad in this Manish Malhotra number.

What she should have worn: We get the vibe that the new Mrs. Kapoor likes to keep her clothes simple so if she had looked across the border for some inspiration, she would discovered that this solid grey outfit from Elan would have flattered her way more.

2) Sonam Kapoor

Sometimes, fashion goddesses mess up too; this was one of those times.

Overly harsh colours and unrefined fabric made Sonam look like the over-excited dulhan ki bhen, desperately fishing for a rishta aunty.

Plus, someone really needs to inform her that traditional anarkalis are not cool anymore, even if it is an Anuradha Vakil one.

What she should have worn: If she really wanted to rock a traditional look while still giving it that pop with colours, Bunto created something embodying just that for our favourite jiyali turned gharwali, Sharmila Farooqui.

3) Alia Bhatt

You make some silly decisions when you're just 22 years old and this is one of Alia's. Wearing a rather confused piece from Manish Malhotra's latest collection, she hid her toned physique in unnecessary material; is it a lehnga choli or a skirt and mini poncho?

What she should have worn: If the Student of the Year actress wanted to wear a unique creation, she would have looked like a stunner in this old but classic Tena Durrani lemon meringue lehnga choli. Instead of the in your face shiny lilac, this is a pastel shade that works!

4) Kangana Ranaut

Okay, this one might be me being a little nit-picky because in my opinion, she looked good but there was definitely room for improvement. First things first, that ombre has got to go! Secondly, although her sari wasn't revolting or anything and the Miu Miu neck bling made her stand out, it lacked a certain finesse.

What she should have worn instead: Oh, the options are endless! Ayesha Omar wore a similar lace sari by Tena Durrani at the Bin Roye premiere recently, which was darker and therefore much more striking. Or this heavier Sania Maskatiya sari with pearl embellishments and floral detailing would have looked great with Kangana's wild child mane and Zara clutch.

Preity Zinta

It looks like Zinta chose a Manish Malhotra sari from his 90s collection. Someone needs to tell Preity that this particular shocking pink shade went out of fashion years ago. And what is with the old school sequin embroidery?

What she should have worn instead: Rarely do we see Preity making risque fashion choices. I would have loved to have seen her in an unusual outfit, something that I would never think she'd wear such as an edgy crochet Delphi three piece but let's be honest -- that might be pushing it. If she'd rather stick to a traditional eloquent look, some Farah Talib Aziz never goes wrong!
