The recent passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act has led to many protests in India and staying silent as the protests mount has become more difficult — but that's exactly what Saif Ali Khan is doing.

Though the Sacred Games star is one of a few Bollywood celebs to comment on the situation, what he had to say was disappointing to say the least.

"I would like the protest to be associated with exactly what I am protesting against,” he told the Press Trust of India in an interview. “There might be a possibility that I will end up representing a different kind of protest. So I am not sure yet. Until I am sure what I am protesting against and whether it is going to be taken that way, I need to think more.”

"There is so much being written in the press, there are so many things that give us concern about what we are reading."

He added that India faces the need to "define" itself. "She will be defined by either the judiciary or the government or ultimately the people and we will know in what kind of environment we are living in. But it is still a little... That is dwelling on what I am reading and what I am told."

Saif’s Sacred Games co-star Aamir Bashir called him out and expressed his disappointment and frustration at the veteran actor’s prevarication, telling him to “talk to Majid,” referring to their characters on the hit Netflix series and its exploration of communalism and violence in contemporary India.

Pakistani actor Shaan made his comment without any words, using a poster of the film Silence of the Lambs to say it all.

Although Bollywood’s A-listers have largely stayed silent, those who have spoken out against the act include Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, Richa Chadha, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Anurag Kashyap, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan and Swara Bhasker, among others.

People like Saif Ali Khan would rise from their slumber when the nefarious act would fall and strike them hard. Poor selfish lot. on them.

Most of the celebrities have spoken against excess to Jamia Milia university student. Except few, no one has spoken against CAA as such e.g. Parinieeti Chopra

These guys will not say anything, because they are there only because they will never speak out or they can't speak out.

Did anyone even understand what Saif essentially said. He is one of the most cool headed and intellectually competent actors. He said India faces the problem to define itself. Then go on to read what he says.

No-one would have an issue if these stars didn't pretend to be more than just money minting machines. Many of them pretend to stand for lofty ideals and noble causes (UN ambassadors, hashtag champions), but now that they know protest can kill their career, they simply show who they are - money minters.
