Indian actor Govinda has been admitted to a private medical facility in Mumbai’s affluent Juhu area after he collapsed at home in the early hours of Wednesday, according to reports from Indian media outlets.

NDTV quoted Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, saying the actor had taken some medication on Tuesday night following a telephone consultation with doctors. He collapsed from disorientation and was rushed to the hospital at 1am on Wednesday.

Bindal said the 61-year-old actor was currently under medical observation and undergoing tests; further decisions on his treatment will be taken after the results are reviewed by doctors.

ANI quoted Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, saying, “The doctors are expected to review his condition around noon, after which further decisions will be taken. Govinda’s medical tests are still ongoing.” She added that the actor was conscious but remained in the hospital’s care. He has since been discharged from the hospital. The Hindustan Times quoted his conversation with the press outside the hospital in which he assured them he was alright before heading home.

Govinda was seen visiting fellow actor Dharmendra at another Mumbai hospital on Monday after the senior actor’s health deteriorated. Rumours began circulating that Dharmendra had died on Tuesday, which were quashed by his family later in the day.

Govinda, known for his roles in the films Partner, Hero No. 1, Bhagam Bhag and Raja Babu and for his unique dances, has been hospitalised for the second time in just over a year.

He was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound last year after he accidentally discharged his licensed revolver and shot himself in the knee. He underwent an operation and stayed in the hospital for three days.
