‘Sisters shouldn’t have to be answerable’: Ali Gul Pir, Anoushey Ashraf defend Feroze Khan’s sisters

Multiple celebrities have rallied behind Aliza Sultan, Feroze Khan’s ex wife who has presented in a Karachi family court emergency room reports and photos of her bruises as proof of abuse in a case regarding the custody of their two children. Ever since the reports and photos started circulating online, people have begun pointing fingers at Khan’s sisters Humaima Malick and Dua Malik for not speaking on the matter, including veteran actor Mishi Khan. In response, comedian Ali Gul Pir jumped to defend them and said sisters shouldn’t have to be “answerable [for] their adult brother’s behaviour”.

The ‘Cousin Dhazan’ singer left a comment under Diva Magazine’s post about Mishi’s criticism of both Humaima and Dua. The Aroosa actor originally had written, “Actually we don’t give a damn to your cryptic message. You could have put some sense into your spoilt brat brother’s head or put your foot down as another woman was being abused. Shame on your mentality and you. We all are there to support #alizaysultan,” in response to Humaima’s cryptic posts and the captions.

Pir in the comment section wrote, “Sisters shouldn’t have to be answerable to her adult brother’s behaviour. Putting down women to support another when a man is the alleged suspect.”

He agreed that victims need to be given justice but called out those who hate on women that happen to be from the same family of the suspect and called such behaviour “idiotic”.

TV host and RJ Anoushey Ashraf is in agreement with him. “It’s hard on them at the moment anyway. The focus should not deviate from the abuse and its victim. Not everything is tit for tat. One must rise above pettiness and lead by example. Dragging other women down to uplift another kills the purpose of the cause here,” Ashraf wrote in an Instagram story.

She added that she’s sure the sisters must be going through enough anyway and that silence at times is the tough route but the right one “to take in matters than hit so close to home.”

“Stop being bullies!” Ashraf said, tagging Pir and assuring him that he has her support on this one.

The 32-year-old actor, Feroze, started facing heavy criticism online on Tuesday when Sultan’s documents and photos made it to social media. The same day, celebrities like Mansha Pasha, Ushna Shah, Sarwat Gilani, Usman Mukhtar, Osman Khalid Butt, Mariyam Nafees and other stars took to social media to support Sultan.

Despite his statement denying the reports and threatening legal action against those spreading ‘rumours’, more celebrities stepped up to extend their support. His co-star Iqra Aziz retracted her upcoming project with him in a show of support for domestic abuse victims and Zara Noor Abbas, his costar from his telefilm Dil Tera Hogaya, said “men like Feroze who think they are the ‘chosen’ ones must be condemned.” Asad Siddiqui, Mawra Hocane and most recent Mira Sethi also extended support for Sultan.
