‘This is just the beginning’: Singer Hadiqa Kiani takes on responsibility of rebuilding villages in Balochistan
Singer Hadiqa Kiani has announced that she has taken it upon herself to rebuild the villages of Rabbi, Chattar and now Tamboo in Balochistan. She posted a clip of herself visiting the area as she praised the residents for being “brave”.
The singer was seen speaking to residents of the villages, consoling them and listening to their concerns about the aftermath of floods they have been left to deal with.
In addition to her tweet, Kiani also wrote, that she is planning to visit remote regions of Punjab and Sindh in the coming weeks and will “adopt” remote villages there as well. She urged all those who are able to adopt a village and help the flood affectees.
Taking to Instagram, Kiani promoted her flood campaign Vaseela and shared the site where people are taking refuge in Balochistan. “Sometimes words can’t do justice to what our eyes experience,” she wrote.
Kiani’s Vaseela campaign is on a mission to extend as much help as possible to the people devastated by the floods. In August she shared a list of needed items and asked fellow Pakistanis to contribute.
As of Wednesday, the water level in the Manchhar Lake — one of the largest freshwater reserves in Pakistan — receded to some extent while efforts continue to protect ring embankments raised to protect Mehar town from a further deluge. The floodwaters flowing from the lake continued to wreak havoc in Dadu district as villages submerged have been, with officials warning that more villages are facing threats of inundation.
