Ezra Miller removed from Warner Bros and DC's Flash franchise: reports
Warner Bros really wants to bring The Flash to the big screen and after delays and changes, and after the movie is out, the company has reportedly decided to move forward with the franchise without lead actor Ezra Miller.
Two months ago, Miller made news for throwing a chair at a woman in Hawaii. This was not the first act of violence the actor had been involved in. Recently, the actor, who identifies as non-binary, shared a barrage of memes in reaction to accusations of grooming and later deleted their Instagram account.
On Saturday, The Direct reported that the release of The Flash has been delayed to June 2023. Though whenever the film releases, it will be the last time the Justice League actor plays Barry Allen.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros, the production label behind the upcoming film has decided to call it quits with Miller's Flash in the DC Universe, following the release next year. A source close to the production house told the publication that even if no more allegations surface online, the studio won't keep Miller around for further films. The question of recasting Barry Allen for the 2023 film is still iffy due to the $200 million investment that has already been made.
The source also said that CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav hopes that the scandal surrounding Miller stays under the radar until the film premieres in theatres. It's still unclear whether this means the company will replace Miller or halt all Flash-related projects.
Miller also plays Credence, also known as Aurelius Dumbledore, in the Fantastic Beasts franchise based on books written by J.K. Rowling.
