Boxer Amir Khan mugged at gunpoint in London
British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom were robbed at gunpoint in London, he announced early Tuesday.
The boxer took to Twitter to announce the frightening news but assured his followers that he and his wife were safe.
"Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was few steps behind me. 2 men ran to me, he asked for my watch whist having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we’re both safe," he wrote.
Crime isn't as uncommon as one might think in London. According to the Metropolitan Police, from March 2021 to March 2022 there were 897,229 crimes committed in London, of which 217,074 were thefts.
Makhdoom and Khan have been married since 2013 and have three children together. The couple also have a BBC 3 documentary on them called Meet The Khans.
In the documentary, they spoke about juggling their relationship, career pressures and a young family, all under the glare of modern media. They also dropped some bombs about the dynamics of their relationship, which was at a crossroads (and on the news) for almost seven years.
