According to actor Osman Khalid Butt, he watches a lot of television — which is why he might just be the perfect person to dish out recommendations for the best television shows in 2021. The actor recently shared a list of his favourite shows this year on Twitter and it's an interesting set of recommendations.
Butt's tweet included many shows that have been all the rage amongst viewers all over the world. However, there was a notable exception to the list — Pakistani dramas!
The actor explained the omission by saying it would not be "appropriate to be listing favourite plays from an industry I'm an active part of".
We Are Lady Parts
According to IMDB, the show "looks at the highs and lows of the band members that make up a Muslim female punk band". The show is seen through the eyes of "Amina Hussein, a geeky PhD student who is recruited to be their unlikely lead guitarist".
Succession
The show revolves around the Roy family, "known for controlling the biggest media and entertainment company in the world". Viewers get a chance to see how the family's "world changes when their father steps down from the company".
WandaVision
Straight out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show follows Wanda Maximoff and Vision , two super-powered beings "living their ideal suburban lives who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems".
What We Do in the Shadows
The show is a "look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of three vampires, who've lived together for over 100 years, on Staten Island", according to IMDB.
Maid
"After fleeing an abusive relationship, a young mother finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future." The show can be watched on Netflix.
Squid Game
The show is a nine-part thriller, in which cash-strapped contestants play childhood games with deadly consequences in a bid to win 45.6 billion won ($38 million). The show can be watched on Netflix.
Hacks
The show, according to IMDB, "explores a dark mentorship that forms between Deborah Vance, a legendary Las Vegas comedian, and an entitled, outcast 25-year-old."
Invincible
Invincible is an adult animated series "based on the Skybound/Image comic about a teenager whose father is the most powerful superhero on the planet".
The White Lotus
The show is set in a tropical resort and "follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week".
The Great
The Great revolves around a royal woman living in rural Russia during the 18th century who is forced to choose between her own personal happiness and the future of Russia when she marries an Emperor.
Arcane
Arcane is an animated series "set in utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun". The story follows "the origins of two iconic League champions and the power that will tear them apart". The series can be watched on Netflix.
Evil
The show follows a "sceptical female clinical psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possession and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there's a scientific explanation, or if something truly supernatural is at work".

According to IMDB, the show follows the "owner of a successful video game design company and his troubled staff who struggle to keep their hit game Mythic Quest on top".
Only Murders in the Building
Starring Selena Gomez and Steve Martin, the show is about "three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves caught up in one".
