Reality TV show The Real Housewives heads to the 'billionaire's playground' in Dubai

International reality television franchise The Real Housewives is headed to the City of Gold with the upcoming show The Real Housewives of Dubai.

According to Arab News, Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen announced that the UAE will get its own edition of the reality TV franchise. The show, created the US cable network Bravo, will air in 2022.

“Everything’s bigger in Dubai," said Cohen. "I couldn’t be more excited to launch Bravo’s first international Housewives series in a city I’ve been fascinated by for years, with an outstanding group of friends as our guides.”

Bravo announced the upcoming show on social media with a teaser. "Pack your bags for Bravo's first original international Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Dubai!" a tweet from the network read.

According to a press release from Bravo, the show will depict “a group of women navigating their relationships, careers and supremely lavish and ultra-wealthy lifestyles in the United Arab Emirates. With the desert paradise of Dubai as the backdrop, this billionaire’s playground is known for its over-the-top opulence, jaw-dropping modern architecture and wild nightlife scene.”

The Real Housewives is a reality television franchise with several offshoots in the US such as The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Each show documents the lives of affluent housewives in a particular city and the drama they deal with. The shows have garnered a strong viewership over the years.

Model Gigi Hadid's mum — Yolanda Hadid — appeared in the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from season three till six.
