Meesha Shafi doesn't need validation from 'enablers'

The Hum Style Awards was held this past weekend and signalled Ali Zafar's return to hosting after five years following a lengthy legal battle with Meesha Shafi over claims of harassment. The awards honoured celebrities across the country, including Shafi, but she wasn't too happy with them.

Taking to social media, the star voiced slammed the awards and management for actively enabling alleged harassers and giving them space.

"One sec ….. you celebrate/award/defend and support harassers, this is old news. So no surprises. But shouldn’t ‘style’ awards at least try to find someone with style to host their show?" she asked sarcastically.

She then announced she didn't need any validation from the channel, making it clear she wouldn't be acknowledging any recognition or any accept any awards from organisations that are complicit in harassment.

"And HUM Style Awards, please stop nominating me. I don’t need validation from enablers," she added.

The tweet came after a few distasteful jabs had been made on the show, including one where the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan actor had mentioned how difficult it was to get the hosting gig, and at another point, how he'd like to be talked about more, despite his 'popularity' (the legal battle).
