6 style lessons we learnt from Sonya Hussyn's winter holiday looks

We called it back in 2017; Sonya Hussyn is the closest thing we have to a true style icon in our entertainment industry.

The woman always slays, doesn't follow trends but creates them and knows accessories go a long way. There's a lot to learn from her style mantras so here we are, stalking her Instagram for some winter season trends as the actor spends time with family in New York.

Some key sartorial takeaways we picked up on while living vicariously through her travel feed:

It's leather weather

Slouchy leather pants for the win!

Don't be afraid to go large; leather falls a lot flatter than other fabrics so it'll keep you looking slim despite the extra cloth. Our favourite way to style this is with a white button down, blazer and sneakers or with a graphic tee and high heels but if you're feeling daring, you can do leather on leather as well.

Turtlenecks are back with a vengeance

We hated them as kids but we've clearly reached that point in our lives where trends from our childhood are resurfacing, this being one of them. The forecast may be cold but the turtleneck will keep you warm and looking stylish— win win!

When it comes to sleeves, go big or go home

Statement poofy sleeves do all the work for you; you look fierce without trying too hard or doing too much. Just make sure you don't go overboard that it starts bordering on goofy.

Micro bags > everything else

While you might be thinking this one's a questionable one, trust us when we say that carrying a mini bag is a different kind of liberating. You only carry the essentials, no shoulder pain from lugging around a big tote or crossbody filled with useless junk and you look fly. What's not to love?

Neon dreams

The '80s are coming back in a big way. Just keep in mind that less is more with high impact colours; single items go a long way, no matching neon separates, please!

Beanies are functional and fashionable

Hats can be tricky but when it comes to headwear, a beanie can be a great staple of your winter wardrobe. We love this cosy accessory; you can keep it neutral or you can even layer two together and have some fun with it!
