10 times the world danced to Rishi Kapoor's rhythm

An icon of the Kapoor dynasty, Rishi Kapoor's passing left the world stunned.

Known to be the the first 'chocolate boy' of Bollywood, he danced and charmed his way into millions of hearts. Having done almost 123 movies in his lifetime, the legend made sure that with his energy, charisma and grace; the world hummed along to his tunes.

If you're a 70s, 80s, or even a 90s kid, you've probably seen the heartthrob groove his way into stardom. Like these ten iconic songs which featured him.

1. Main Shayar To Nahin

Shot alongside Dimple Kapadia, this 1973 song marked Rishi's debut as the golden romantic boy of his time. Released in the movie Bobby, it cast a young Kapoor imagining his love interest in the room and giving an impromptu performance.

Years later, the song was reused and picturised on him again for the movie Hum Tum alongside Saif Ali Khan. No one else could've done it better.

2. Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu

From the suspense thriller Khel Khel Mein released in 1975, this romantic number was shot on Kapoor and his wife Neetu Singh, making them one of the most sought out showbiz couples of their time.

3. Bachna Ae Haseeno

The 1977 number sung by Kishore Kumar was from the movie Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin and became one of the biggest hits of its era.

It shows a young and energetic Rishi singing in front of a crowd, which became so popular, that son Ranbir Kapoor picturised a remix version on it a few years later.

4. Parda hai Parda

Shot in the same year for the movie Amar Akbar Anthony, Kapoor's first qawwali song casted for the movie alongside wife Neetu Singh, became a super hit in its time.

Dancing solo in a bright green number, the star stole the frame with his charm and good looks.

5. Dafali Walay Dafali Baja

From 1979's Sargam, it's hard not to spot a lively Rishi in a seedha pyjama and electric blue kurta. With sparkly eyes, a robust complexion, charming smile and a selfless romantic disposition; he grooves to some synchronised beats in a lush green field.

6. Mere Umar Ke Naujawano

This super hit solo from the 1980s blockbuster Karz marked Rishi Kapoor's stardom like no other. Shining in a sparkly silver number, the actor addresses a massive crowd, jazzing to the rhythm and grooving to some moves like no tomorrow.

A tribute to the legendary performance was later given by Shahrukh Khan in his movie Om Shanti Om where he recreated the scene to bring the memories back to life.

7. Ek Haseena Thi, Ek Deewana Tha

Shot alongside Tina Munim, it's hard to miss sparkly Rishi, in a black and golden number. Guitar in one hand, popularity in another; the legendary actor undoubtedly puts fire to the stage.

A terrible attempt at a remake of the song was later done by Himesh Reshammiya, but lets leave it at that.

8. Tu Tu Hai Wahi

The evergreen romantic number was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. It was picturised in the year 1982 for the star's lead role in Yeh Vaada Raha opposite Poonam Dhillon.

Despite being shot without any extravagant background or view, the song remains to hit all the perfect chords to date, with the expressions of a young Rishi undoubtedly stealing the show.

9. Chehra Hai Ya Chaand

From the 1985 hit Saagar, this subdued romantic number featured Kapoor alongside co-star Dimple Kapadia. Lyrics to the song were penned by Javed Akhtar.

10. Chaandni O Meri Chaandni

Picturised alongside the Late Sridevi, this melodious number is a Yash Chopra classic released in 1989 for the movie Chandni.

Shot in the mountains, the mesmerising duo vibes in the aura of exquisite locales, lifting melodies, and their own charisma.
