Sridevi died due to drowning, not cardiac arrest: Dubai Police

According to latest reports, Sridevi's death has been attributed to drowning.

Tweets by the Dubai Police revealed the results of her post-mortem, which concluded that "the death of Indian actress #Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness."

The police further stated that the case has now been handed over to Dubai Public Prosecution.

Earlier reports by publications like Khaleej Times have termed her drowning as "accidental", but the police statement has refrained from this characterisation.

The hotel where Sridevi was staying has refused to comment on the matter and an employee stated that it is under police investigation.

Sridevi was in Dubai to attend a wedding last week and passed away late Saturday night. Earlier reports stated that the actress died of cardiac arrest.
