Kumail Nanjiani wins CinemaCon's Comedy Star of the Year Award

Kumail Nanjiani is a popular comedian and CinemaCon thinks so too.

The Pakistani-American actor, well known for his role as Dinesh in the award winning show Silicon Valley, just received the Comedy Star of the Year Award at Cinema-Con.

CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and Nanjiani was presented the honour at CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards that took place last night.

"Kumail has already made his mark on TV with the award winning Silicon Valley and on the big screen in such films as Fist Fight and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates in which he gave one of the most memorable massages of all time," says CinemaCon managing director, Mitch Neuhauser.

He adds about Nanjiani, "He continues to make audiences laugh with his unique sense of humor and charisma. We couldn’t be more delighted to be honoring him as our CinemaCon ‘Comedy Star of the Year."

Kumail Nanjiani has been in the field for quite some time and is a critically acclaimed comedian and writer. He will be starring in the upcoming rom-com The Big Sick, which is based on his relationship with his wife Emily Gordon, who also wrote the screenplay.
