After a memorable performance in Deepa Mehta's '96 romantic drama Fire, veteran actor Shabana Azmi is set to star in another lesbian drama.

According to DNA India, Pakistani actor-director Fawzia Mirza has cast Shabana for her upcoming film Signature Move where the Bollywood actor will be playing the role of a mother to a teenage lesbian daughter. Fawzia, herself, will be directing the film and essaying the role of the lesbian daughter in a relationship with a Mexican girl, who is a wrestler.

Shabana Azmi will play the oblivious, watch-TV-all-day mother unaware of her daughter's sexual orientation. The actor will soon be heading off to Chicago for the shoot.

This venture marks Fawzia Mirza's first feature film that she will be producing herself. Mirza is known for works such as Me, My Mom and Sharmila and The Muslim Trump Documentary. She has also recently been honoured with ‘Champion of Change’ award by the White House.

Signature Move is about a Pakistani woman finding herself through love and wrestling.

Its not about "it is our culture or not". Its about what you are promoting. No one is denying that there dont exists LGBT community in Pakistan. They are rampat, all over, in all provinces (not just the pushtoon as a myth) But when you show it on mainstream media, you sort of promote it to be a normal ting and those who are not sure about their sexuality starts thinking that maybe they are right to be like that. The west tried its best and with a success to create an impression that sexual orientation is in genes Well its not. It can't be. Else the whole mechanism of nature would fall., Its already falling in the west. The values, the core system of a family union, a sober society, everything is just vanishing, and that too at a very fast pace.
