Pakistani-American artist Salman Toor lands a spot on TIME100 Art 2026 list
Pakistani-American artist Salman Toor has been named on TIME Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people shaping the future of art. The TIME100 Art 2026 list was released on Friday afternoon.
Toor, 42, was mentioned in the Icons section. The list features painters, photographers, sculptors, and other artists as well as curators, lawyers, philanthropists, museum leaders, and others who bring artwork to the world.
The magazine describes his work as paintings of “young brown men in states of convergence and of isolation” in different settings.
It noted that since his breakthrough show at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in 2020, he has seen his paintings sold at auction for more than $1 million, toured a solo exhibition to four museums, participated in the Venice Biennale, and sold out a two-part gallery show.
His first solo European exhibition, the publication noted, will open at the Courtauld Gallery in London in October.
This is not the first time Toor has been honoured by TIME — in 2021 he was named on the TIME100 Next list. The artist was born in Lahore and now lives in New York City.
