Pakistan is finally getting its very own Got Talent franchise

With Pakistan Idol also making a comeback, the stage is set for a new wave of local reality TV.

Pakistan’ is going to be getting a brand way platform to showcase its talent as Pixel Entertainment has announced that it has signed a deal with global entertainment giant Fremantle to bring the world’s most successful reality show format, Got Talent, to the country for the very first time.

The franchise, originally created by Simon Cowell and owned by Fremantle, has aired in more than 70 countries and even holds the Guinness World Record for the most successful reality TV format in history. Now, it’s Pakistan’s turn to put its talent on the global stage with Pakistan’s Got Talent.

The show promises to be a wide-open platform, welcoming singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, acrobats, beatboxers and just about anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes to wow an audience. Nationwide open auditions are set to kick off soon, giving performers from every corner of the country a shot at recognition.

This news comes hot on the heels of another big television revival — the announcement that Pakistan Idol is making a comeback. MHL Global recently secured the rights to the show from Fremantle, setting the stage for another round of reality TV nostalgia and new talent discovery.

With both Pakistan Idol and Pakistan’s Got Talent in the pipeline, the local entertainment scene looks set for a much-needed shakeup.

The franchises might just serve as a stepping stone for talent begging to be found. If executed well, they could open doors, diversify what we see on TV, and maybe even set new benchmarks for the industry.

How unoriginal! Can any Pakistani come up with anything original on their own?? Everything in Pakistan is copied from other countries, cultures. From Fashion to housing, from way people speak to what they eat.

It will just turn into a farce with incompetent populist and unsuitable "judges" mocking and making entertainment at the expense of innocent contestants. We all know nepotism and connections rule our entertainment industry. Real talent don't have the odds stacked against them.

Ms/Mr Falcon1, it's not a copy. It's franchise. There are franchises like Masterchef, Survivor, Who wants to be a millionaire, American Idol etc etc that have been legally started in many countries.

Pakistanis are by birth talented, if our government system works smartly and honestly, there is no reason that Pakistan becomes most talented country in the world. Still our garment industry and arts are world’s most in demand products right now. ❤️

@TAHMAD. Really?? Pakistan is No. 1 in ANY field?? So why is Pakistani Passport is ranked amongst the lowest in the entire world at 99 out of 102 countries - in the same league as Yemen, Afghanistan or Somalia??? If Pakistan is No, 1, it is corruption, illitracy and nepotism.

Here's a question for you all. Is there a single product that Pakistan is top exporter of - (other than Mangoes or Asylum Seekers?) Back in the 60s, Pakistan had a much bigger share of exports of many products. Some progress, when 99% of the world requires you to secure a visa before leaving Pakistan even for a few days visit

@TAHMAD, "Come to visit". Thank you. I did. After 50 years abroad, just 30 minutes from Karachi Airport, I was robbed at gunpoint and almost got killed!

@LOVE PAKISTAN "Pakistanis are by birth talented," Oh yes it is. The talent is on mediocrity and copying all the bad traits of the East and the West. Talented in forging travel documents to sneak into Iran to Turkey to seek asylum in the EU. Just today, this paper published report that Pakistan's IT sector exports reached record high of $345 million. While India's IT sector is expected to earn $220 BIllion. Pakistan's talent cannot even match half a percentage of the real education and talent on the Eastern Front. No wonder, the CEOs of some the biggest and must successful IT firms in the US - IBM, Google, Microsoft etc are all Indians. Not a single Pakistani even running a fortune-500 second tier company in the US. Yep, Pakistani talent is in all the wrong areas.
