Imran Ashraf, known for his powerful TV performances, is set to star in his first Indian Punjabi film Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Ni Aaunda. The film’s first song ‘All Good’ came out on Tuesday and Ashraf shared the music video on his Instagram account.

The song — sung by Ranjit Bawa, who also stars in the film — is an energetic number, with the music video being shot mostly at a party illuminated by neon lights. The video calls the song “the party anthem of the year”.

The film, a comedy revolving around the struggles of studying abroad, was originally slated for a May release but was postponed. Although no cause was publicly stated, it is likely that this move was a result of increased tensions between India and Pakistan at the time. The film will now hit theatre worldwide, including in Pakistan, on August 22.

A teaser for the film was released last month. The Ranjha Ranjha Kardi star is cast alongside Jassie Gill, Sapna Pabbi and veteran Pakistani comic Nasir Chinyoti.

The release comes soon after the controversy surrounding another Punjabi comedy with a cross-border cast. Sardaar Ji 3, produced by Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh, has yet to be released in India after right wing groups in the country objected to Hania Aamir being cast in the film. Sardaar Ji 3, which also stars Pabbi and Chinyoti, released in Pakistani cinemas and worldwide on June 27; according to director Amar Hundal, it became the highest grossing Punjabi film outside of India last week.

Sardaar Ji 3 wasn’t the only Indian film facing heat for casting a Pakistani. Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal was stalled indefinitely in the aftermath of India blaming Pakistan for the deadly Pahalgam attack in April, a claim Pakistan has repeatedly denied. That film has yet to see the light of day.

Why not preempt the sadist indians and start a welfare game with such Indian film releases?
