The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has been granted a five-day extension in its physical remand of YouTuber Saadur Rehman — popularly known as Ducky Bhai — in a case regarding the latter’s promotion of online gambling apps. Judicial magistrate Naeem Wattoo heard the NCCIA’s request in a Lahore court on Saturday.

The investigating officer said they needed an extension in the suspect’s remand to complete his interrogation.

Ducky Bhai’s lawyer asked why the agency needed a further extension in the YouTuber’s remand when they could get a forensic analysis of his laptop and phone conducted instead. The lawyer confirmed that the NCCIA had Rehman’s phone and laptop in their possession.

The judge has directed that the YouTuber be presented before the court again on August 28.

Rehman was arrested at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday while attempting to leave the country. He has been charged under the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act, 2016 and sections 294 B (Offering prize in connection with trade) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducting delivery of property) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The YouTuber is accused of promoting several online betting and gambling applications, which the state’s FIR says were not registered to operate in the country. Rehman, the FIR further states, acted as a country manager for one of the applications without authorisation from the government and failed to join the inquiry proceedings when summoned.

A two-day physical remand was initially granted to the NCCIA on August 17 against a request for 28 days, which was later extended by a further four days on August 19. Rehman’s wife, Aroob Jatoi, was presented before the NCCIA on Wednesday after securing pre-arrest bail. This is not the couple’s first brush with the law; they were detained in 2024 for displaying weapons on social media.

Ok, now that that's done, how about putting real big dangerous criminals like honor killers, kidnappers, murderers, rapists, child molesters, gangs, corrupt politicians and government servants all the way to the top, in jail too? Forever and through away the keys! It's amazing how much ressources, efficiency, time and speed our police shows when dealing with such trivial matters. By when it is about real hard core criminals, who are a danger, menace to society, the police does nothing. Even refusing to file FIRs. Absolutely amazing.

Well it is online, anyone whoever records or uploads online that leaves criminal traces By law the crimes committed by criminals you wrote they lack of evidence unless if next-door neighbour uploads his act online where millions of population view then that leaves traces of trail of hard evidence where police have to act You say the police don't do anything to others well they do arrest those as well but if they lack of evidence they can't do anything and have to let the criminal go
