TikToker Kashif Zameer was arrested on Friday by the Punjab police on charges of disrespecting the police uniform.

An FIR filed by the Punjab police on Thursday at the Qila Gujjar Singh police station stated that an initial video posted to TikTok showed Zameer at a wedding function handing a tray of money over to a man wearing a police uniform who was later identified as driver constable Khurram Shahzad.

The FIR detailed that after a case was registered against Shahzad under Section 115 of the Police Order 2002 (police officer at any time liable to be called for duty), Zameer, in an attempt to “save” the constable, took to TikTok again and posted a video with Shahzad’s clothes changed to plain black shalwar kameez using Artificial Intelligence.

It stated that the TikToker, in his video, claimed instead that the police uniform was edited onto the “original” video. However, during an earlier inquiry, the constable confirmed that the video where he was wearing the uniform was real and from that wedding event.

The FIR stated that Zameer and Shahzad became a source of disrespect for the police and propagated a false narrative by using AI. It invoked sections 13 (electronic forgery), and 26 (spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA) and Sections 34 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

In a statement issued by Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah’s office, the case was declared “high profile”. Shah summoned the investigation officer of the case along with the records to issue a line of inquiry.

In a video posted to Zameer’s Instagram, he claimed that the man in the video was his personal guard, not police personnel and that his alleged black clothes were changed to a police uniform using AI by “enemies” because Zameer had voiced support for YouTuber Rajab Butt.

Zameer stated that he “respected and loved the Punjab Police”, and would fight the case in the high court.
