A Lahore court cancelled on Saturday the non-bailable warrant of arrest issued for actor Nazish Jahangir after she voluntarily appeared for the hearing and submitted a bond.

Jahangir is the subject of a fraud case filed against her by fellow actor Aswad Haroon, who says she has not returned Rs2.5 million and a car he lent to her.

During Saturday’s hearing at the Cantt Kutchery Court, judicial magistrate Ghulam Shabbir Sial cancelled the warrant upon the furnishing of a Rs50,000 bond.

Jahangir appeared before the court along with her lawyer, barrister Haris.

The non-bailable arrest warrant had been issued after she did not appear for the hearings. The police had been directed to arrest her and present her before the court today.

The next hearing of the case has been set for April 28.

The initial case was filed in 2024 under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code — cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property — at the Defence C police station. It alleged that Jahangir, who knew Haroon through the entertainment industry, asked to borrow his car and Rs2.5 million for two months for a project, but failed to return it despite six months passing.

Haroon claimed that Jahangir asked to meet him at a farmhouse to return the car’s papers but failed to show up and instead sent a man named Sikandar Khan who threatened him with weapons. The FIR stated that Khan threatened to kill Haroon if he ever reached out to Jahangir again.

In response, Jahangir filed a petition in September 2024 requesting pre-arrest bail. The petition stated that the FIR was registered with “malafide intention and for ulterior motives just to humiliate and harass the petitioner”. It was dismissed.

In October, the Lahore High Court directed the FIA to decide on a petition she had filed to stop propaganda against her on social media.
