2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Mawra Hocane. Just days after tying the knot with fellow actor Ameer Gilani in a dreamy wedding, her Bollywood debut film, Sanam Teri Kasam, is making waves at the Indian box office following its re-release.

The film, which originally hit cinemas in 2016, has now surpassed its initial lifetime earnings within two days of returning to theatres.

According to The Indian Express, Sanam Teri Kasam, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, raked in an impressive INR 30 to 32.5 million (approximately Rs96–104 million) on its fourth-day post-re-release, bringing its total earnings to INR 185 million (approximately Rs595 million).

This is more than double its original theatrical run, where it garnered only INR 90 million (approximately Rs289 million). Industry experts now predict the film could close its first re-release week with a whopping INR 270 to 300 million (approximately Rs868 to 964 million).

The film opened with a strong INR 42 million (approximately Rs135 million) on day one, followed by INR 52 million (approximately Rs167 million) on Saturday and an even bigger jump to INR 62 million (approximately Rs199 million) on Sunday.

Earlier, Filmfare reported that the film’s re-release saw a massive 157,000 ticket bookings on its first Saturday, beating the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani re-release and securing the second spot for the highest re-release ticket sales.

On Monday, when collections typically drop, Sanam Teri Kasam outperformed competing releases. It raked in twice the combined earnings of Badass Ravikumar (starring Himesh Reshammiya) and Loveyapa (featuring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor), which earned just INR 11.6 million (approximately Rs37 million) collectively.

Sanam Teri Kasam follows the love story of Saraswati (played by Hocane) and Inder (Harshvardhan Rane), with music by Himesh Reshammiya that continues to resonate with fans.

With Sanam Teri Kasam proving to be a sleeper hit years later, it’s clear that Hocane’s journey in Bollywood still has a dedicated audience. The actor is being showered with love and well-wishes from fans and peers alike.

I don’t think even 0.001% of Indians know who she is but whatever floats your boat.

It's interesting how our females celebrities (Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane, Sajal Aly, etc) who go to Bollywood are treated by us as compared to our male celebrities (Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Javed Sheikh, Imran Abbas etc). Either females are slept on/ignored or just denigrated/torn down. Male actors are usually appreciated and supported. Sound like Indians appreciate our Mawra more than we do. All the best to Mawra. She is talented, well spoken and educated with a law degree.
