Asim Azhar shared the sweetest full-circle moment after he performed in Canada and visited Niagara Falls and it’s pretty inspirational.

Here’s how the “inspirational or motivational” story went:

In 2011, Azhar and his mom visited the United States and went to Niagara Falls. While the rest of his family planned to travel to Canada by road, he and his mother did not have Canadian visas and stopped at the American side of the Falls.

Perhaps being a singer was always destined for Azhar because while walking around the city, he heard live singing and discovered it was at a bar. Determined to go in and perform for the crowd, young Asim was stopped by the bouncer because he was underage. Well, if there’s a will there’s a way, because Azhar started singing outside the bar.

“The manager smiled and let us in only for me to sing a song in front of six to seven goray [white people].” Azhar recalled that he sang Bruno Mars’s ‘Grenade’ for the crowd and received some applause too.

Excited after his performance, he told his then nine-year-old cousin that one day he would tour the world and his cousin would experience it with him. “My little cousin got so excited and asked me, ‘Really? That would be so cool Asim bhai, can I be your team member when that happens?’”

However, his audience jokingly told the two kids not to get ahead of themselves. Azhar thought they were right, and suddenly his excitement dissipated. He looked to his mother, who instantly knew he was sad, hugged him and told him and told him she was proud of his confidence.

The singer shared that he had forgotten all about the moment, until he went back to Niagara Falls a few days ago, after 14 years.

“It was like a movie flashback. And guess what, I was with the same little cousin who is all grown up now… [and] he IS a part of my team touring the world, we have travelled and performed in five different countries in the last two months together and we just did three sold out shows in the country I couldn’t come to that day.”

What a beautiful story, and truly a full-circle moment. His journey is a testament to what you can achieve if you work hard for your dreams and keep your loved ones close.

It sounds like he probably disrupted those patrons at the bar.

One day, Pakistan will be a prosperous and truly Muslim country. On that day, Pakistanis will not be influenced by America, Canada, or any other Western society. It will be reminiscent of the time when the Ottoman Muslim Empire ruled the world or the great Muslim empire in Spain. One day, we will be proud to be both Muslims and Pakistanis.
