Sajal Aly will be starring opposite Indian superstar Prabhas in the upcoming film Fauji, according to Filmfare. The shooting of the period movie is set to begin on August 24 in Hyderabad, per Indian media.

An official announcement for the female lead is expected soon, and names like Mrunal Thakur have also been floated around in connection to the project.

The report follows closely on the heels of news about Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Aly’s involvement in Fauji. The Indian outlet claimed that sources close to the project have confirmed her participation to them. The film is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi.

Pinkvilla reports that the film is going to be set in the pre-independence era, and will be an action-packed drama.

Filmfare is reporting that Aly will be taking on the lead role alongside Prabhas, who is fresh off the success of his global hit Kalki 2898 AD.

Aly made her memorable Bollywood debut with the 2017 hit Mom alongside the late Sridevi. Neither she nor the makers of Fauji have confirmed or denied the reports.
