Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday over a viral fever. Shatrughan is the father of actor Sonakshi Sinha.

According to the Hindustan Times, his son, Luv Sinha, clarified that contrary to speculation, Shatrunghan had not undergone any surgery. He was admitted for a viral fever and was in a frail condition. He is also undergoing his annual medical tests at the same time. Luv, while thanking well wishers for their support, condemned the fake news of his father’s surgery and asked them to circumvent “unverified news”.

Shatrughan is a politician in the All India Trinamool Congress party and an actor best known for the films Mere Apnay and Kalicharan. Shatrughan won a seat in the Indian parliament, the Lok Sabha, for the constituency of Asansol in the recent election.

The actor’s hospitalisation comes five days after his daughter Sonakshi’s marriage to Zaheer Iqbal.
